We're building a new underground station in the heart of Hong Kong's tourist district and I hadn't seen the progress for a month or so.
We parked the car in an elevated carpark, looked over the edge of the railing and were surprised to see this landmark tree floating three stories above the excavation. Once the work below is completed, the station will be capped, new landscaping (or new building) added, and the tree will reassume its position along Salisbury Road without ever having moved at all...

Returning for the car two hours later and shifting a little to the left gets you this eerie view...

I didn't look at the signs to figure out when all this is supposed to be completed, but it's causing tremendous above-ground problems for surrounding merchants.
Someone recently advised in print not to stay in Kowloon hotels in the Tsimshatsui area at the moment and all the hotel managers jumped down his throat. I can understand their concern but it's true. The racket from the construction work is not what you want on your holiday.
Cheers,
Don
