I had made up my mind to purchase the Espon 2200--refurbished. When I finally got around to doing that--they were gone from Epson's site. They're back now--but I am wondering if I should wait and take a look at the R1800 when it comes out? They both are similar in price.
I am printing mostly animal portrait photos, which I like on matte paper most of all. 2200 obviously great for that.
I would like to have the best flexibility though--if I need to print glossy as well.
Wonder if the R1800 prints matte well or not?
Any guesses when it will be out?
Thanks for any input. :)

Thanks!
That is quite a detailed comparison.
The R1800 sounds pretty good.
Worth the wait I believe, to see how it is. I don't know if I am a "discerning" enough printer to be able to see the difference on the matte.
The flexibility of having the higher quality glossy is a big plus.
Epson has it listed on their web site now--but it is not in stock.

Heard the R1800 will be available late March, early April. I am anxiously awaiting, charge card in hand. I've needed a new printer and this one seems to fit the bill. One of the things I like about it over the 2200 is the overall size of the machine. It is smaller and will take up less space. Always a plus.

If I am not mistaken the R1800 supposed to be cheaper than the 2200 even. (I'll have to check btw I'm currently an epson rep)

I am drooling while waiting for the R1800 too.
