I need to rent a lense...
i have expereince with the 70-200 IS L and think that'd prolly be a decent choice. maybe the 100-400 :dunno:
Seats at about 10-15 yards up from the sideline on the 10 yard line

Can I assume you already know what the stadium will let you bring in? I'd hate to rent a nice 400mm or something and then have them not let you bring it in the gate.
Having said that and given your seats and knowing what I have seen elsewhere on here, you may find the 70-200 too short for your seats unless the play is right at your end. It will give you flexibility with range though. Maybe go perhaps with a 300 or 400 mm if you want to get shots up or across field a bit. I know the 400 is a pretty popular choice with the pros on the sidelines, so I suspect it will be a nice on to have with you up 10 rows in the stands (assuming you can bring it in).

yeah, i'll check into that.
I hear what you're saying about range...but in teh 70-200's defense i used it at a NASCAR event and was able to shoot on the other end of the track with relativly good results :dunno:
Plus, i'm worried about possible low-light conditions. If i remember correctly teh 70-200 may be better for lower light conditions
i should get the 100-400 just for the sake of getting exp with a diff lense

welp, thanks for making me check
CAMERAS: You may bring a small, still shot camera to Texas Stadium. However, video cameras and cameras with extended or zoom lenses are not allowed at Texas Stadium.

Just to let you know, the lighting in Texas Stadium is 1/640-800th, ISO 1600, F/2.8...at least for under the lights. So you would probably want to stay away from slower glass (AKA 100-400).
Good luck with getting it in, i have seen some people take Rebels in.... actually this weekend the stands were full of 70-200's... granted that was for High School Playoffs.

Yeah, i was thinking the 70-200 would be better for the event since its a late afternoon game.
alas, apparently they won't let me in with it. I doubt i'll even bother bringing the DSLR

Take a P&S if you have one and just enjoy yourself, there is much more to be experienced at a game then always looking though a viewfinder (like nachos and beer ).

The Thanksgiving game isnt "under the lights" but I agree the 100-400 would be too slow.
As you already noted you wont get much in. Enjoy the game!
