Hi,

I am going to buy an ultracompact cannon camera and I have decided to choose one of these based on my research
SD 750, SD 1100IS, SD 770IS, SD 790IS

I am confused which one is better, my preference is better image quality, Price is not an issue since there is a little price difference between these models

Thanks in advance

Malik

Well, the SD750 doesn't have image stabilization - that'll mean more blurry photos at slow shutter speeds. Both the SD750 and the SD1100 are older models; the newer SD770 and SD790 will probably give you better IQ since they electronics may have been tweaked a bit more. Between the latter two the biggest difference I can see is the 1/2 in. difference in screen size.

I have an older sd600 and it seriously kicks butt! I am AMAZED at the image quality as well as the video quality it produces being even a small camera.I have taken some stellar concert pics as well as generic around the home ones too. MY only thing is I turn off the digital zoom as it is worthless. But then again that is a general statement and pretty much across the board with any camera. It does not have IS to my knowledge BUT I have not needed it to be honest. All my slow shutter work has been supported either on make shift posts or tri-pod. You really cannot go wrong with these little guys. I would be curious to see how much of a difference the newer models compare to the sd600 that is a couple years old now.Good luck!

I just got my girlfriend the SD1100. I'm not camera buff, but it the picture quality looks just as good as my parents 1 year old Lumix DMC-FZ7.

Used to have an SD1000 (close to same specs as SD1100 but didn't have stabilization). Sister has an SD1100 and loves it.... and it's about the cheapest compact out there with a rechargeable battery! $160-$170 online which leaves money for a bigger memory card :).

I used to have an SD1000 and it was a great little camera. Unfortunately it failed to survive a trip through the washing machine. I also have an SD300 which was a nice camera until my wife dropped it. (Seems like a camera destruction pattern)

I'm now figuring on buying a used G9 or another SD series camera. Looked at a couple of them but nothing decided yet. I'd get IS though this time.

i just bought myself (and my younger sister an SD1100), but not getting a chance to play with it till xmas :(.

Price has come down alot! I paid $134CAD for mine (about $107USD).

Dell.ca has some on sale for $149CAD --> http://accessories.dell.com/sna/products/Digital_Point_Shoot/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&s=dhs&cs=cadhs1&sku=A1741139 (MUCH cheaper then dell.com prices surprisingly)

What is better depends on what you're looking for. Image quality wise, all the models across the ELPH line are pretty good, and they offer a similar feature set (or lack there of). The differences are usually only in one or two areas that set them apart from the rest of the group (ie. budget or high end model, viewfinder or no viewfinder but larger LCD, IS or no IS, focal length etc).

Have you considered one of the wide angle models (870 and 880) or the 890 with the longer optical zoom?
