Strange, but interesting! ;)

Oh wow, love it! The only nitpick I can think of is that it would have been nice if the track was perfectly symetrical on the frame.

Seems almost surreal, has a very artistic feel to it. But the more I look at it the more it seems like art work rather than a picture. I'm digging it! Good work!

Hey I just saw a show the other night about how this trench used to be a tunnel that they blew up to make room for another track.

This is a very unique and well conceived image.

It looks like a table top model railway, great stuff.

Great shot Stu!
I have been over that pass a hundred times (in a truck) and never had the luxury of getting out on foot..
Love the shot.

Hey I just saw a show the other night about how this trench used to be a tunnel that they blew up to make room for another track.

Wow, that's cool, I didn't know there used to be a tunnel there.

Rickydriver - I used my 1d MKIII and a Tokina 10-17 fisheye. I shot at ISO 100 F13 and 1/50th. I'm kinda surprised the train came out as sharp as it did with that slow a shutter speed. It isn't tack sharp by any stretch, but it isn't too bad.

I got very lucky with the timing on this. I was riding my motorcycle out to Vegas and I noticed a couple trains coming up the pass while I was on the 15. I turned off and one train was cresting the hill right when I got there, but I didn't have enough time to get my gear out. I grabbed my back pack and scurried down the hill a bit so I could set up for this shot.

You can kinda see that there are two trains in the shot above. One stopped and waited for the other to crest the hill where they disconnect the helper engines. Once the first train had passed I climbed back up the hill and pulled out my fisheye for the other shot.

I really like the different perspective on the first shot. Excellent.

Interesting perspective to say the least. Actually the tunnels were about 2-1/2 miles west of this spot.
