20D allows max 10X magnification while previewing a picture on lcd in playback mode. Is the max. magnification on lcd same as 100% crop on PS CS on my laptop ?? or zooms much more in ?

probably not... who knows. Are you shooting large, medium? etc... I don't think it even comes close if I think about it.... Unless maybe you're shooting small JPG

I highly doubt it because, first of all, what you're seeing is not the actual image that you download to the computer. It's a thumbnail of that file used for displaying on the little LCD screen.

OK so its not same as 100% crop & from your explanation I assume a jpeg thumbnail is displayed.
The reason why I asked is that when I view on lcd & zoom in pic starts getting very soft as I zoom more which is somewhat same as when I zoom in PS CS.... but 100% crop from some other ppl here looks quite sharp ! Probably its my Sigma :-)

& btw I shoot in RAW + L jpeg.
