Bought a Sunpak UV and Polarized filter....ok to use?

I just recently quit best buy but before I left I walked around the store and filled a shopping cart of things I may want that I wouldnt be able to buy later with my employee discount. Of those things I bought a Sunpak UV filter ($4) and a polarizer filter for $7. Are they worth keeping?
