NYC: public photoshoot places

had an out door photoshoot today... but wont work.. so we need an indoor place.. I dont have a studio or space my apartment... ive heard of photographers going all over the places in any kinds of buildings and doing shoots for free...

does anyone know where I can do this? It woudl really help me and a ton of other photographers!
