Welcome to the forum!

Great shot - love the composition. The ice doesn't look to be melting either so I guess the sun didn't get too warm! :)

welcome to the forum.

You have a good eye for light. Good idea for shooting the setting sun through ice. However, I don't like the composition of this photo. My eye is distracted between the two subjects. Do I look at the sun or the icicle?

A smaller a appeture would make the image a little less eye straining.

I found myself looking at the whole picture.

I don't think that's a bad thing...

i love the contrast between the dark outline of the icicle and the muted tones of the sky. the sun is beautiful.

Welcome to the forum. Great image. An interesting study in contrasts. Cold, hard. Warm, enveloping. Hmmmm....

Wonder if you could select the icicle and add just a bit of blue tone to it to emphasize the coldness.

Very cool image. Nice capture. Thanks for sharing.

i like it alot. only thing i would try to do next time is to try to get the ice more in focus it seems soft to me. tho it could be when you changed its size down to 72dpi and made it 600ish in pixel size. photoshop like most other programs loose the sharpness of the picture a tad. to fix it use the USM (un-sharpen mask) + fade to mode to luminosity it will make the ice less soft after you resized your image for the web. that's a tip i just learned it works pretty good. try it out.
