Here are some shots from the Ultimate Frisbee tournament "Missouri Loves Company" held in Jefferson City, Missouri. It was bitter cold, the wind cut through to your bones. Definitely not ideal weather for frisbee. My fingers froze off taking these pictures so I hope you guys like em! My team is in green, we play for Truman State University

C&C appreciated, as always.

#2 Brewer is a jumping machine, he knocked down several passes on defense.

That's no hippie sport.....slacklining is a hippie sport. Ultimate in the cold is more miserable than any other sport in the cold in my opinion, and I'm a surfer, haha.

They look nice though, positioning for less stuff in the background (like #2) will make them lot better though, but I know it's almost impossible for ultimate.

I just titled it hippie sports hoping some people will come in to look out of curiousity... it didn't work lol

yeah, catching a fast moving plastic disc is not fun. I was using some thin wide receiver gloves and it worked pretty nicely. I'm also saving up for the 70-200 2.8 so maybe the background will be more OOF

These Games -- played on the same fields -- where I watch (and photo ) my grandkiddos play soccer and other sports. Bryman -- where in Mo do you call home.

2.8 will help but the big difference for background blur is how much distance there is between your subject and the background.

These two were shot at f/4, not the greatest shots but they show good bokeh.

Haha and the hippie sport title works better than most of mine.

markmizzou - I go to Truman so Kirksville is where I'm at most of the time otherwise I go back to St. Charles when school's out.

cannonnoob - come say hi next time we play each other. I'm the little asian handler running off the field to use the camera.

tomcat - About how far away were you when you took those shots? I can't stray too far from the sideline, I'm a player more than a photographer.

I mean I'm standing on the sidelines in those shots....it's about how much distance is behind the subject. So like it's a big field with a field behind it, and they are down towards one end, so there is a lot of room between them and the trees. Does that make sense?
