Greetings S,
In my opinion it is best to purchase at least a 512mb CF card and take all pics at the highest resolution. You should be able to get around 200 high resolution shots. If you plan on printing, enlarging is not a viable option. I would hate to have a killer shot and be limited in processing the file because I used the postcard resolution.

Yes, go Superfine Large for best results. Unless you absolutely have to be able to print directly from camera to printer and can't do any resizing you want to start wit hthe best quality image.

Thanks,
rather thought this was the case , so to move on ,I take lots of photos when myself and a few others are out hillwalking.
to send them all by mail on dial up is slow to say the least so I was lookin to reduce the file size.
would the plan be to take photo's at max resolution and compress to distribute......

Take it on the max then save as a small file if distributing on dial up. That way you retain the best quality original.
How long before you ditch your slr?!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone says they won't when they go digi, then when you ask them 6 months later they say er, well ...........

I'd recommend getting a 512 MB card, like what Threevok said. Set the images to Superfine and Large.

I shoot at maximum resolution, the resize to about 600 pixels wide and save a 30% compression to e-mail or post pictures into a website. That should give you a resonable sized file for dial-up.
