Nice. I saw an 85L hood in box for $5, and that's about it.

Where's the story behind it! :p

Ordered two cheap knock-off reproduction batteries for $5 each. They sent me an email apologizing for running out of stock and asked me if it would be OK with me if they sent one knock-off repro (like the ones I ordered) and one genuine Canon battery...I said it's fine by me ;)

Well, it has the Canon hologram sticker on it.
It says "This product is a genuine Canon accessory." in seven languages.
It was made in Japan.
It came with the appropriate Canon instructions.
All the stickers/stampings/mouldings on the battery itself are genuine Canon.
It's rated at 1390 mAh, like all my other genuine Canon batteries (except the ones for my 10D) are. All my reproduction batteries are 1400 mAh.

I'm as sure as I can be that it's a genuine Canon battery :)

i got the exact same thing from a questionable reseller. sure it's got a hologram sticker and quality packaging but both can be faked. upon usage the battery did not perform well at all, so it may be a factory second or a counterfeit.

let us know how it works out.

I will :) just waiting for a flipping local store to bring in the BG-E2N I ordered/paid for nearly 2 weeks ago...
