View Full Version : Two sites, integrated look...

I've settled (for the time being) on two services for my online presence.
PhotoBiz for my front end site: http://www.KevinLynam.com/
Exposure Manager for proofing/ordering: http://klynam.exposuremanager.com/
The general look-n-feel is from a PhotoBiz template that I customized it w/ a "logo" treatment. I chose it to force me into something a little more modern and edgy than my previous site.
Just curious what everyone thinks...

You seem to have quite a few threads going on the subject of photo webhosting, hard to keep track of them all.....

Yes, too many threads. I was trying to contend with several separate - albeit related - trains of thought.
I would delete them all, if possible, as none have turned out very useful to me or the respondants...

interesting point - thanks for the feedback. I'll ask around to see if others are picking up on that too...

the Photobiz site is nice looking but would be annoying if I had to visit often...which I would never do thanks to the muzak you are pushing at me...making us users settle for your way of doing things because they must be the best solution...right?
Lesson one in web design 101...keep it SIMPLE, keep animation to the only absolutly necessary and never make the user wait for fluff to load...you should do some googling on what site visitors are willing to tolerate before they leave...especially when there are a zillion other sites offering the same service in a faster more efficent fashion.
Like I said I visited your site before and like your work...but that PhotoBiz site is annoying as hell.

Thanks for the lesson on website design - lol - and as for researching website design, I've done just a little bit of that over the years.
Quite frankly I'm not yet 100% satisfied with my PB site; mainly becuase I don't have enough control over the elements.

I was going to compare with your website but couldn't find it in your signature.
Seriously though, web-savvy photographer/programmers like you are not my target market.
Moms, brides-to-be, and high school seniors are my market and my research shows they willingly endure flash and music and even consider it a value-added element. (Wow, he must be good, look at all this cool stuff mentality.) Some even consider sites that don't have it "old fashioned."
Of course I would like some options for the flash and music player...but alas, I can only change templates, not parameters within templates.
(And back to my other post we go...)

I think people have to understand what their target audience is. If it is a younger group than yeah get all the bells and whistles available to you. They love that stuff.
If your looking at older people I would stick with a more conservative plan.

How much does that photobiz site cost to run? It looks great.

I am trying out their copper right now. I was hoping that zen would have allowed for templates by now but they are so far behind other companies it is starting to upset me. They are going on over a year since I signed up and saw the "coming soon" on their product line! Coming soon means within a month or weeks, not years lol
Anyways I still love their selling area and want to use that since I am paid for already, but I want a better looking front end.
Photobiz seems nice.
