I have 67 mm lens and a 77 mm uv filter from hoya. Will a stepup/down filter affect my pictures? Should i buy a new filter or will i get the same result using a stepdownfilter from 77 to 67 mm?
thanks!

A stepup ring (as they're properly called) is just a metal band with (in your case) 678 mm threads to fit the lens and 77 mm threads to fit the filter. Unless you've got an UWA lens that it causes vignetting on, you won't see any effect from the step-up. It will interfere with a lens hood, though. If you're getting a UV for protection, I'd say to get one that fits the lens and doesn't interfere with the hood.
