http://tobiasnykanen.com

I just redid my whole website, right now it's a bit thin on images but i want it to be clean looking and not to many pictures on it. Things i want to change is to make the index page more interesting and the links in different color from the standard blue.

Any comments on the design and/or pictures would be much appreciated! :)

I absolutely love the minimalistic design with a hing of modern... it's awesome. I'd only make the gallery pics just a bit larger... I know you're probably skeptic about that, but they are just really small for me :(

other then that, I'm loving the design!

Thanks for the comment! I can agree about the small pictures and im going to think about make them a bit bigger, but i want to keep them small instead of puting in a watermark and destroy them.

No one else that thinks anything about it?

I would establish a little more self-promotion on the initial page.

1 more thing about the galleries... those little preview pics in the bottom all have the models' heads cut off... try to put the preview window a bit above if its possible to do

In my opinion you should have a Homepage link so that your visitors can navigate a little easier. To get back to your homepage now you have to continuously hit the back button. Other than that it looks good. What program did you use?

When I click on motorsports it takes me to a new window. I prefer how your other links keep me in the same window. Nice, clean design. Keeps my focus on your shots. Nice work as well!

Thanks all for the feedback!

Yes i will redo the frontpage, but not sure how i should do it.

That's what you get for using a script to make thumbnails, but i will look into it and see if there is a way to have it crop different.

With homepage, do you mean startpage? If so there is no info on it so i thought it would not be interesting to go back to it, as you can navigate through the site anyway. I used dreamweaver and some code i found on the internet.

As i want to show lots more pictures from different competitions i have been to for potential buyers to view, i choose to have it in a different gallery. Im thinking of moving it onto a totally different url as well to easier separate my work. Another idé might be to show a few motorsports pics and then have a link to the gallery?

My first impression was "Wow, great picture. But where am I and who took the shot? What gallery is this" Then I saw the navigation and info at the bottom of the page. Maybe add a simple banner to the top that identifies the site. Right now I like the clean lines, and the images are great, but it's almost TOO simple.

I like it. I'm a big fan of keeping things simple and letting your work speak for itself. Nice job!

The home page is simple and elegant. I like it. My only suggestion for it would be to eliminate a bit of the empty space at the top.

Pretty cool site!

Once I started viewing the motorsport gallery, I wanted to get back out to the homepage to see the fashion gallery, but I couldn't easily navigate back.

You should have the same header on all pages to remind people whose site they're visiting.

Perhaps center your thumbnails as well. With them left-aligned, I expect more to load.

I'd also pull the motorsports off this site. Make up a new url and point it to that gallery and give it out to the target audience instead. It doesn't fit with the others both in genre and design.

I have now redone the frontpage, added some text at the top. I'm going to redo the pictures to to add thumbnails for all the galleries so you can choose from them instead of just having a simple picture there.

I'll see what i can do about that.

Yeah I'm not sure how i should do with the motorsports gallery, I want it to open in a seperate window as i cant find a way to integrate it with the other design in a nice way. I'll see if i can add a link back to the site from the gallery.

Good suggestions! The left aligned thumbnails comes with the script, i will see if i can find the place to edit it. I agree about the motorsport, i really need to get a new url for it, just have to figure out a good name for it.

An alternative would to use a subdomain like moto.tobiasnykanen.com and point that to the url. I do that with my wedding proofing all the time. lastname.cdifoto.com actually goes to their slightly more complex and hard to remember proof link. It's easy for couples to remember their own last name. It's also easy for guests to remember the last name of the groom. It's harder to remember cdifoto.com/asdasjhdaskldbasndkljasljasldsa.html

I have now redone the homepage once again, I now have all pics on the front page, any input on this?

I still have a problem with the motorsport link but have not been able to figure out a nice way to remove it from the site. Im thinking of using the moto.tobiasnykanen.com but the problem is to get the motorport viewers to find the subdomain then.

I would reconstruct the site. At the moment it's more of a showcase site than a commercial site.

This would give you more flexibilty in creating content sections and also a new navigation system. Have a read of this:

FAQ (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=656288)

That should help you in focus your attention on the main areas. As your blog and motorsport links breaks your navigation at present and not giving a professional feel to the site.

I have now removed the motorsport link and put the blog link in my contactinformation. I'm going to work on getting some more content up soon, just have to figure out a way to add it nicely into the site.
