I have a GREAT camera dealer, He has let me trade up for a newer and better camera as I want to (or as my wife will let me) He gives me the current list price on the camera I am trading in against the upgrade. I have traded 8 times starting with a little Oly. 1.3 meg and I am now at a Black Rebel w/grip and a couple of decent lenses. My problem is now he has given me 3 new options - He will give me $1099 toward a D20 which is $1599 - or he will give me $999 now and I will be without a camera till he gets a rebelXT and it would be an even swap. Lastly if I wait till the XT comes in he will give me $799 against the XT at $999 would cost me $200 --- I was wondering what the “wise ones” would suggest that I do?

Get the 20D. I would buy it again if given the same choice.

Well obviously the 20D would be a nice upgrade from the Drebel but you have to ask yourself.. do you really need it? I, like you always like to have the newest stuff out there but it comes at a price. If you're set on the 20D then it sounds like your dealer is giving you a pretty decent price for upgrading. I don't know if I'm sounding cheap but if the DRebel is holding you back, upgrade!

its a $500 difference (for me big $$) for only $200 I could play with the XT for awhile and then still trade up if I feel the need. Who knows maybe the 20 will come down in prices in a few months

And before anyone questions it - My rebel, I am sure takes better pictures than I do. But I am one of those pitifull people that lust to their bones for the "newer and better" Only my wife keeps me from selling everything for an improvement.

you may not like the handling of the XT (350D) its much smaller and I did not like it at the focus show here in UK.
I think the next trade-in is the 20D.
where can i find a dealer like that ... amazing

The 20D is the way to go in my book.:) Add some L glass, a grip and you'll be all set. The wife might kick you out, but hey........
