I bought a 40D recently and needed a CF card, I bought a sandisk extreme III 8gb "30mb/sec" I'm not a speed freak or trigger-happy kind of guy but to my knowledge  speed of the card does affect the camera's response when capturing images. I thought everything was fine and dandy and then I saw a kingston ad on my local electronic store "Kingston 133x 16gb CF" for $29 almost half of the sandisk of course sandisk has the extreme and "30MB/Sec" under it's belt... I guess my question is, if I'm not a fast shooter and just do some landscape and portrait shot will the kingston suit my need? I'm not concerned about the speed transfer to PC either. Also how reliable is kingston? Thanks!!

Any speed card will be fine for your uses.

I have several sandisk ultra 2 for my 20ds, 1,2,and 4 gig. I have 3 Kingston 133x , 2x 4gig, and an 8 gig. I have a 2 gig Transcend I use every day in the 50D, for learning and around the place. I have two Kington 60x for the 5D. . The only failure I ever had was a 4gig Sandisk ultra 2. Buy whatever suits you, and know that any of them can fail at any time.
