HELP! is there a way to shrick the whole folder rather than each pic. at 550 i could be there for ever... please excuse my lack of computer skills

thanks

In Photoshop Elements 3 there's a function under saving as a JPG/JPF2000 format what will allow you to enter the file size you desire.

Well if you want to resize all the images instead of keep the image the same display size, Photoshop Elements 3 has a feature to batch process files you select and option to resize is one in the process multiple files function.

I also just realized that IrfanView, a free image viewer, has a batch resizing feature too.

Go to www.download.com and do a search for irfanview and it'll come right up, and it's free!

What camera do you have? And what do you mean by "It still takes an hour to download 32"? From computer to Web? Camera to computer? Are you using a card reader? If you're uploading them to a website - what internet connection do you have? dialup? DSL? broadband?

are u saving them at there highest quality? Jpegs even if there small in size can still have a large file size if the quality is maxed out. Perhaps shrink the photo more (what size in pixels are they?) and/or reduce the quality a few steps down.

OR get a broadband internet connection, which can download a fullsized 20D jpeg at max quality in seconds....

Broadband/cable internet will be a big help but it won't upload a full quality - 6+ MB image in seconds. Upload speeds are a lot slower no matter what connection type you have. On a broadband connection the best you'll get is 50KB/sec, probably more like 33KB/sec.

Downloading speeds (from web to your computer) can be between 300 and 600KB/sec

Upload speeds vary by ISP, connection technology, traffic, etc.

Here is a link to a windows app that will help you upload the quantity of files you are working with: http://www.smugmugexplorer.com/. I have used this, and it works well. There is another tool I haven't used yet that looks interesting: http://wiki.shahine.com/default.aspx/MyWiki.SendToSmugMug.
