View Full Version : First long Exposure Shot

Any C&C appreciated. What did I do wrong/right, what could be improved upon these type of shots, etc. I used my 10-22 for this shot, setup a tripod right below a highway during rush hour.

I think you need a better composition/angle. You don't see enough of the road. Get closer to the road so you can see more of it off into the distance. The telephone pole in this shot adds nothing to the image. Also keep the camera level or adjust the image in PP to straighten out the vertical lines. Getting higher up might also help your composition.

Thanks for the comments. I will definitely keep this in mind next time I try this shot. Unfortunately, couldn't get any higher but I'll look around for something better. Exposure, 30 seconds.

SwingBopper basically hit the spot. The shot itself isn't bad though, just the subject is blah for me.

I agree with SwingBopper and XTiGuy here but the one extra thing I would add is that if you are going for the traffic/road thing with the nice "streaks" of tails lights and such...more traffic would be better too. This looks like it was only one, maybe two vehicles.
