Calumet Genesis for 220 V

Just wondering if anyone has tried to run Calumet's Genesis strobes on 220 Volt (through a step-down transformer naturally)? Or is there a 220 version? Thanks.

1. You mean step up transformer :-). As long as it it a real transformer and not impulse inverter you should be OK. In fact the power in your house already passed through many transformers so it definitely will not hurt to use one more.

2. Yes there is a 220V version.

I think if you take 220 down to 110 that would make it a step-down (thinking of a US version plugged into a European outlet), but that's not important.

Thus far I've not found the 220 v version. Calumet website seems quiet about voltage specs. Any leads? Thanks

Furthermore, I just went through Calumet's UK site and while pricing is in pounds, the spec sheet insists on 110 voltage, which I find interesting. Just as the replacement flash tubes have identical part number for US and UK. Doesn't make any sense, does it?

I clearly remember 220V version on their website. I even noted that 220V version had faster recycle time for some reason. But it is not there anymore. :confused: I gues either they did not update their site properly of desided not to go ahead with 220 V version. Did you try calling them ?

I actual;y can't call at this time as I am cruising the seas and doing some forward research when a short time connection is available. I guess my question would be then to all:

Has ANYone ran a 110V strobe system on a step-down transformer from a 220 V outlet?
