If I were to ever get a good photo I think the paper would want, what do you do? Do you send them the photo? Photo w/ discription? Artice? I have no idea how to do this so any help would be wonderful. Thanks
Also, if they use it can you ask for some kind of cred. to get you more places? A free copy? LOL

Your first step would be to call the paper and see if they are interested. If they are, two ways you can procede:
1. Email them a reduced version so they can have a look. If they want it, send in the full version. Under file info in PS you can type everything you need to add, caption, credit, date and location etc.
2. Send the full version right off the bat.
If you talk to them ask what they normally pay for submissions. If they say they don't pay, thank them and say you will shop the image around. If they are really interested they will come up with a figure. Now if it is a small weekly, don't expect to get a car payment out of them. Heck, don't even expect much more than a meal for 2 at a fast food restuarant.
Don't let them use it just to see your photo credit. That will not gain you anything, no professional respect, nor any credential to any games. Just the reputation that your willing to give away that which others want paid for. Nothing says amateur more than, "Can I get a photo credit if you use my photo?"
Expecting a credential just because you submit a photo is a little presumputous. Maybe if your getting a couple of shots a month published you can call the PE and ask if he needs some coverage of XXX vs XXXX on Friday night. If he says yes, ask him if he can help getting you a credential.
And for goodness sakes, DON'T CALL IT A PRESS PASS!!!!

Thanks!
The guy at the AA baseball game said to get a press spot I would need a "press pass" so I call it a "press pass." :)

Give the newspaper a ring and ask if they're interested.
