Having owned and enjoyed a G3 for a couple of years i rececently
acquired a 300D with 18 - 55mm lense package , always fancied
a DSLR but cost for an amateur bit much , better value now
probably due to XT coming out . What i have found though is my
1.75 teleconverter from the G3 fits the 300 lense . The results are
pretty good apart from slight blurring at full zoom hopefully due to me not used to new cameras balance , anyone any comments on using this set up ?

As long as you like it, don't worry what anyone else thinks.

The purists on here will tell you that you have comitted a mortal sin and your soul will suffer torment for all eternity.

I say, if you like it... use it.

I felt like i was commiting a sin myself and was looking to the forum for forgiveness ! Very difficult to get crisp pics like i can with the G3 , hopefully it takes time getting used to different shape and weight and with converter fitted doesn,t feel balanced , maybe i,m looking for re-assurances that i,ve done the right thing in buying a dslr ?

I have not shot a G3 so I can't comment on the differences but owning the 300D will have the potentil of taking you up a notch as a photographer. The extra control features and ability to adapt to various situations will (ot at least could) force you to think about the shots differently. You are bound to get some clinkers and as far as I am concerned that is all good. Because it makes you ask why and how can you improve the shot. Stay in the "creative mode". If you are looking for a way to redeem your "sin" use your camera to do something good for the world or at least your corner of the world.

The 300D will definitely help you improve as a photographer.
