The Canon A85 cannot work with filters. You may want to look at the A510 for that.

Gary,
Could you please elaborate?

I don't see why you couldn't use a polarizer. You do need the extension adapters though. I have those for my A80 (and if I remember right, the A80 and A85 have the same adapter size) and have some macro filters; works great. I also have a 2x telephoto and a .56x wide angle.

Yes - get the LA-DC52C or third-party equivalent and you'll be able to use 52 mm diameter filters on it.

I have an A95 and I want to know if using this adapter with some filters will degrade in any way the quality of my pictures ???? Probably less than a telephoto lens I think but...
thanks

"with some filters". Well, yes, if you get cheap filters it can degrade the image quality noticeably, but that's always going to be the case. Cheap glass may not be optically flat, or it may not be homogeneous, so yu'd see differing refractive indices. Get good quality filters (B+W, Hoya HMC/SHMC, Tiffen) and you'll have to be exceedingly fussy to be able to imagine a problem.

Thanks John.
I was checking the lensemate website where they sell adapters, teleconverters and filters for my A95 (including Tiffen) and I'm very impressed by the pictures samples.
Especially the pictures from A 85/95 with adapter and teleconverter at full power. Never though adding that kind of lens could still give me clear pictures like the ones they're showing on their website.

I use an A70 with a circular polaroid filter. I could eliminate a lot of refelction and glare with the filter. If you use the filter with an auxillary lens (I use a wide angle), the filter goes on before the lens. I did get a bit of vignetting.
