... from starting their own photography school?

Insofar as I can determine a 'photography school' does not have to be certified by any authority whatsoever. What am I missing?

Nothing. You can start at my online photography school in the Spring semester.

If you can draw this turtle, I will also enroll you in my art "college".

To give an actual legal degree you need to be accredited - but there's more than a few sites out there that do online learning and give there customers a piece of paper saying they completed the course(s), not a degree though.

That's too bad. I bought an expensive pro pencil Therefore I must be an artist. Unfortunetly it only draws a crooked line so I sent it back to be
re calibrated.

Must have been front drawing cuz the subject was in front of me. Maybe I should have tried a 0.38 point instead of a 1.0 along with a slower hand.

Only if the offer was in the rear of a MARVEL comic. Matchbook offers are not valid in the US

Another one that didn't work for me. I was the kid that was always last to be picked in gym class for a team. I had zero athletic ability and still don't. Maybe that's why I now spend 4-5 nights a week shooting HS athletes.
TIme to visit my therapist:lol:

I hope thekid24 does well in theHoffs art school. He has real talent.

Nothing. Just remember the first rule of startup, tho. Never do it with your own money. Do it with somebody else's. Find investors.

To join my on-line-learning experience you don't need to draw anything -just send me your $2500 enrolment fee via direct money transfer. ;-)

In order to get this thread back on track...

You are free to start a school in your state if you are able to pass the individual state requirements. Each state has its own postsecondary requirements in order for a school to be licensed. These are the same requirements that would be met by barber colleges, medical transcription training, etc.

You would not need accreditation unless you wished for your credits to be transferable. A state licenses a school as a legal entity while an accrediting body evaluates the quality of the school.

There are many schools licensed by a state where their diplomas have no weight outside the borders of the state.

From what I've seen of some photography schools, it seems the only criteria is chutzpah.

I think the point is that getting a 300L for such a low price is as about as plausible as getting X-Ray Specs from a comic book that actually let you see through things...

(At least I hope that's the point since I just got a 300L for considerably more...)

Yep ! just a little humor because the way this thread was going, I started to think about what people fall for now.. If it's too good to be true...
