Very nice, good B&W conv, would be interesting to see some off-the-wall perspective, like close to the water's surface, or close to the wheel ... dunno, seems theres plenty of scope there.

P'raps move the black level or add some fill light in #1

Nice series though.

Thanks a bunch for the positive comments!

Here's one closer to the wheel. all images 100% crop so I have a little latitude for differences in perspective. I appreciate the suggestions!

Tiles, what a fabulous find! This is the type of subject that photographers find themselves returning to season after season to shoot fresh perspectives. Many possibilities here (I'd like to see this scene in the snow!). I very much like the look and feel of #1. If I were to nitpick, I might work with lowering the highlights, bringing up the shadows slightly and tone down a few of the bright areas in the foreground. It could be cropped in to the outside of the first big tree on the right to add focus without hurting composition. Some might say its a bit tight on the wheel but it doesn't bother me. Regardless, it displays well as is. Good job! I hope you will continue to work this scene - I'd like to see more.

Regards,
Mark

I vote for the color...There are a bunch of these abandoned wheels here in WNC...guess it is time to shoot a few.
