It was suggest that when I took this building I should have had a little more sky showing,

so I went back today and did just that, I think it does work better.

Well, it's a beautiful building, and both shots are very nice.

Thanks for the comments Stan. There is some very neat old Victorian house in that village I'm going to see if I can get some of the better ones.

Nice looking church. You did a great job keeping it level in the second shot, too. For some reason, I always seem to have trouble with that.

Yes, I remember the other one. I think it definitely looks better this way. Good job.

Tom, I know what you mean. The only way I get a shot that level is if I rotate it in Photoshop.

Cool shots, if you'll forgive the pun.

It's really hard when your dealing with diminishing lines (the old vanishing point) at that angle, plus the conflicting lines of the mountain ridge, (yes that is a mountain in Connecticut  ) and the general slope of the land. Sometimes if you set the camera on a tripod and had it perfectly level it would tend to make the subject look even more out of level. So there has to be a lot of compansation and a lot of luck in my opinion. That one wasn't so bad because there was a lot of conflicting lines. so the eye doesn't just pick out one. Does this make any sense?

Makes sense to me. I won't comment about that "mountain" line, though...

Thanks! they are kind of embarassing, I think the highest mountain CT is in the North Western section and it is a dizzying 2300' above sea level Have to get into Vermont and New Hampshire to attain any heighth and at the we're talking 4000' or so except MT. Washington in New Hampshire at over 6,000'
