The focus is on the manhole/grate...takes away from the photo. Beautiful shot otherwise. Not sure what the initial intention was.

That's some rediculously deep DOF...

The manhole cover does sort of draw the eye aggressively down front but the HDR is really well done (as usual...)

Probably the closest to Harvard I'll ever get. ;)

Manhole covers and drains such as what you see in the photo are one of my foreground signature elements. I use them very frequently.

I do appreciate your point of view and respect that you took the time to comment on my photograph. Thank you.

nice work - another vote to lose the manhole cover though.

It's 16mm on a full frame camera using f/16. That gives deep dof.

Exactly my opinion.

Thanks for the comments all. I adore the manhole cover. It makes the photo. Without it it's just another snapshot.

gorgeous hdr but have to agree with others about the manhole cover, it just looks out of place.

I agree with this, the manhole does add originality and works

Wait. What? It's Yale, right? Any other pictures of the Yale campus would be great.

looks good, but the sky seems grab most of my attention, since the buildings, which mainly are the subjects, don't really pop as much as the sky and the manhole thingy.
nice composition though.
