I'd like to buy a Canon EOS 1D from www.bwayphoto.com but I don't know if I can trust them. Do you guys know that website? Should I buy from it? Thank you.

SHYSTERS!
avoid at ALL costs...there BAD reputation is LEGENDARY...funny how they keep changing their name (aka broadwayphoto.com, etc)
check out their miserable perfomance at resellerratings.com
http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1570.html
and while you're at it:
broadway photo (same company)
www.resellerratings.com/seller1995.html
enter at your own risk...
it's been written about here more times than any of us can even count...
hope this helps you avoid a MAJOR disappointment (emotionally and financially)
i don't know how places like this can even legally stay in business...
try www.onecall.com reputable and honest...or the old standby (i ALWAYS purchase from b&h www.bhphotovideo.com

no problem lebig...
one day a long time ago...i saw the prices for the D-30 and decided i could give up my olympus E-10 for a D-30...after i found reseller ratings i was saved a LOT of hassle...
i finally bought the D-30 from dbuys.com (another major hassle dealer but after a dozen phone calls and lies i finally got my D-30 from them)
anyways...just returning the favor someone else did for me a long time ago when they turned ME on to reseller ratings...
good luck in your search...as i mentioned...try the reputable dealers mentioned in the last post...it'll be worth it in piece of mind alone!

If you want to buy photog goods, I'd definitely choose bhphotovideo.com
I recently bought a 70/200 f/2.8 IS from them with a 2 business days delivery and I got it only after one day.
I think it's one of the best around

I have to agree, great products, great service, good prices. But bad shipping policy. For some reason (and being a shipper who uses all 3 major carriers extensivly) there choice of only one shipping company is unwise and unfar to customers that live within 500 miles of there location.
The only carrier available is FEDEX, thus making millions of people that would get next day UPS ground delivery pay a very large premium to get there product the next day.
It's my only beef with B&H but it's shared by a lot of fellow photographers in the tri-state area.

I'll also put in a thumbs up for bhphoto and I'll add that I've also ordered from Adorama on occasion with good luck. Bhphoto is my first choice though........ I once ordered a background stand from them that arrived damaged, I phoned and they sent me a new one out the same day and didn't even want the damaged one back. I've also exchanged items with them, no hassles. They are an excellent company to do business with.

I am planning to buy the 70-200/2.8L IS lens from B&H. I live in Canada and I am not sure if I should factor in to the whole transaction the possible cost of duty . Does anyone have experience ordering equipment from Canada?
according to B&H the "USA" lenses as opposed to "Import" or "Grey Market" will be serviced worldwide:

Could anyone from Canada, who had to use warranty on a "USA" product purchased at B&H, comment on the question?

Right now, on my list of "who to buy from", it starts out with B&H. Then Adorama and another. When I finally get down to number 84, there is Broadway. I am waiting for my first order to arrive from them.

I bought my D60 from www.buydig.com, got it in less than a day from NY to Texas. I was impressed with the service. They will only ship to the address of the card holder though and they do call you back to confirm large orders.

Thomas,
I bought my D30 from a store in Canada (Aden), and I live in the US. I didn't have to pay any duty. I did get a phone call from US customs verifying the order and that I was not going to resell the camera, but that was it.
As far as the warranty thing goes, the Canon USA warranty covers canada too doesn't it? If not just wait for B&H to have an "Import" lens in stock and buy that one.

I got my D30 form Aden as well. It got held up in customs for a few days and Fedex even tried to bill me for the Duty but ended up crediting the charge.
They told me not to put a company name (only a personal name) anywhere on the paperwork and it would go right through.
For the pricing as it was at the time, I got the extra battery and battery pack for the same price as B&H without it.

B&H and Adorama are two of the best. Delta International is also pretty good. For used goods try KEH.com.
FWIW, B&H and Adorama's owners are cousins, if I remember correctly.

I am in Canada and have bought from B&H and others in the states(B&H is the most reliable of the lot).
Customs will charge you (most times) GST and a customs handling charge. Once the shipping company charged me a brokerage fee.
Depending on what you buy there may also be a customs duty added on.
