They are decent for an advanced amateur! Keep it up.

they're nice... very very processed, but that's okay if that's the look you're going for.

The first picture doesn't look like a photo, it looks like a painting. I like it a lot...

I love the first one. The second seems a bit dark in the foreground. I would lighten it up a bit, maybe blow it out in the highlights. Composition is very nice.

Are they infra red? I like the first one a lot. Excellent for a beginner, and as someone else says great for an advanced amateur too!

I think you have a smart technique (in terms of the infrared or manipulation effects or whatever yields the interesting tones) which adds a lot to both pix, but I think the second one could be better lit and/or cropped. Still not bad though.

If you really are a beginner then you are doing really well. I'd like to see some of the dark bits levelled out a bit but you show great creativity and a natural eye for composition, something some people have to really work at. Keep up the good work.
PS can we visit you in NY? We live in Wales in the UK!

Wonderful, Wendy. Great intensity, especially in the first. Please tell us your post-processing.

It's nice! But I'm afraid the amount of post-processing took over the quality of the shot.

I disagree with you. OGRT48 used Photoshop to create an effect he wanted to convey. Delhi, you make it sound like post-processing is evil, and should not be done.

By the way OGRT48, nicely done.

Like someone pointed out in another thread. "Even film is processed" Ansel Adams sometimes spent more time. "post processing" one of his photo's than he did setting up for it. Photography is ART. and art is in the eye of the beholder. Unless it's photo-journalism there is nothing wrong with manipulating a shot..

It really depends on what the originator wants to convey. If post-processing is needed to convey the message then go for it. I'm just in the camp of "let's not over post-process until the true picture is lost". I do some post-process myself. But careful not to turn it into something that becomes fake. ;)
btw, this is no on your picture ogrt48. i think they look very nice.

Love pic 1. Great use of image planes / layering.
