Just saw this on another forum and thought I would post it here...

Spectacular Sky Scene Monday Evening
Fri Nov 28, 10:31 am ET

Every once in a while, something will appear in the night sky that will attract the attention of even those who normally don't bother looking up. It's likely to be that way on Monday evening, Dec. 1.

A slender crescent moon, just 15-percent illuminated, will appear in very close proximity to the two brightest planets in our sky, Venus and Jupiter.

Thanks, we've been talking here about this for several weeks now, and some have even started posting their images.

Here's the scene at sunset from the mid-west. All three will be within 4 degrees and should comfortably fit in a binocular view.

Our friends in Europe will get a brief occultation of Venus by the moon at rush-hour, only about an hour from now, at 8:04 CST.

I've tried lots of desktop planetarium software and I think it's the best. Works on Mac (me) or PC.
