Any one from here done the rockingham rally before, hopfully going there this year and was wonder what it is like for taking pictures, from the website the only vantage point is the service area or grand stand area.

Rockingham is poor for photography from the public stages, certainly for circuit racing. Best opportunity is on top of the pit garages which gives an unobstructed view of the start / finish section of the outer oval. If you have a small diameter lens you can shoot through the fencing at Tarzan corner.

I used to be a great fan of Rockingham; I was there for their first ever event before the grandstands were even finished and I went several times subsequently in that first season because I believed that anyone willing to build a motorsport venue from scratch in the UK deserved to be supported. Unfortunately they've squandered that goodwill by the consistently rude and unfriendly attitude of their staff. Now I regard it as a badly designed not quite oval which even the Champcars found unsuitable, in an awkward to get to location, with incredibly uncomfortable seating and poor camera angles. I haven't been there for years and have no particular desire to go back.

Its certainly a bit of a white elephant and has been a huge waste of someones money.
I hated last years trip there as I was restricted to the public areas, but this year I'd got myself accreditation and it was a much better experience.
It deserves better but there were some very foolish decisions taken during the design and build process!
The think I like about most tracks is being able to walk around the whole track (if you so desire) - or drive around the perimeter in the case of Britcar24 :) - Rockingham herds you as if you were sheep into the grandstands which take up 1/3 of the perimeter, and allow you onto the pit garages and thats about it.
