A friend of mine asked a favor. I shot the wall with the menu on it so he could put it on a flyer.
I used two strobes, one to the left and one to the right of the camera, to light the scene. Both were bounced off the ceiling and I tried to get the lighting as even as possible. I did perspective distortion correction and cleaned up some lines and removed an electrical socket from the wall. This edit is the one with the most USM and noise reduction to give it a slightly different look. The walls themselves were crooked, so even with fixing it as much as possible, I couldn't get it perfect. I sent three to the person doing the flyers with different levels of USM and noise reduction with one being pretty much what the original scene looked like, one in the middle, and then this one.
I'm pretty happy with the results. Just wondering what everyone else's opinions are.

I think it's an excellent composition. This particular crop would make an odd print, but for your purpose, I think it works well. I'd like 2 deviled eggs, a Reuben, and I'm considering the Nachos.

I think it looks great!

Why were you shooting at an ISO that needed noise reduction when your are strobing the image... what am I missing here? This image should have been noise free to start with. Not that I can see any noise in this one, but just wondering.

It was at ISO 100 and I put the layer at 25%-30%. I did it to get the smoothing effect in the letters and to give it that style. The first one I sent didn't have any, but I figured for the third I'd throw some in there to give it a "surreal"(?) look.
Just felt like it.
I cut it way back because I didn't want to lose too much detail in the door and the wood. It's going to probably be close to 5x7 or whatever the dimensions to crop fit, so it's not going to be super detailed.

........ give it a "surreal"(?) look. .....
Photographic special effects notwithstanding, I think that the eclectic menu is about as "surreal" as they come!

Too bad its such a small image because I feel a lot of your work is being lost in this size. Thanks for the explanation though... makes sense.

Eh...Maybe artistic should have been used.

The larger size is available on Flickr.
I doubled checked with the person I was shooting for and they wanted the whole wall and the door included. I sent a full sized file that's a little under 8mp to the person doing the flyer. I have a feeling that they may need to crop it a little more unless they plan on printing it off at a larger size, maybe 8x10 or whatever the exact dimensions come out to.
