Surfing the other dig photo forums, apparently the Rebel XT is already out on the street via Best Buy. The buyers claim that only the silver model is available for purchase for $999. Sooner than everybody thought...

Knowing Best Buy's history of breaking street dates, it wouldn't surprise me at all.

just picked up a drebel (not xt) for 300 less. With the hacked software do you think it is worth the 300$ difference for an average user ( i will never be a pro), :)

If you order from B&H do you have to pay taxes? Because if I add something to my "shopping cart" it lists it with $0 tax. Buying something that's $1k from bestbuy would be about $60 in taxes. :\

P.S. I'll confirm this tomorrow since there's a best buy right by my house. :)

No, you don't pay taxes if you order out of state.
