I've had my s30 for a little over 2 years and absolutely love it. It has been a great camera, small enough to fit in a pocket, and sturdy enough to take skiing or hiking.

Unfortunately, the Lens cover / slide on my s30 just broke. I contacted Canon's tech support where the "offered" to fix my camera for around $150. Or I can get a refurbished s60 for $250.

Is it worth upgrading for an extra $75? Or should I stick with the s30?
Also, is the new lens cover / slide on the s60 really as sensitive as people on the forum are saying? And if it is made of a "lighter material" wouldn't that make it more likely to suffer the same problem that I am currently experiencing down the road.

Thanks.

This happened to me too. It is very sensitive. I returned mine to Best Buy where i bought it . Since it was within a short time they replaced the camera. I think it's worthy to note that this is a problem with these cameras.
