hey does anyone knwo what an error 80 is on a Canon D-30 and what casued it. flash doesnot work but I can stioll shoot avaliable light. Also if you have how much it cost to get fixed. THANKS

Further, sometimes an error reported from the camera body relates to the lens used, or something about the way you are using remote control. So, if it gets really complicated, I guess we have to spell it out completely.

This is the full description from a list originally provided by Chuck Westfall Canon US.

80 SHUTTER

Description: This error occurs in the following conditions:

-The EOS D30's self-check system detects that the shutter has not been fully charged (ready to shoot)

-The EOS D30's self-check system detects that the shutter operation sequence has not been completed correctly

-The built-in flash cannot be recharged after the E-TTL pre-flash, but before the main exposure

Action: Try clearing the error by turning the main power switch OFF and then back ON. If this does not solve the problem, have the EOS D30 examined by a qualified service technician.

thanks, I believe I have ot send it to a qualified service rep. The camera shoots Fine with out flash but when i put a strobe on it , it underexposes with the 550 and locks up with the built in flash . Thanks again
