View Full Version : WORLDWIDE PHOTO WEEK: PART 141 -- Trains and Stairs
BLS
1st of December 2008 (Mon), 08:13
The themes for this week are "Trains" and "Stairs." Shoot one or both, your choice. Be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the topic -- the sky's the limit!
Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between sunrise Monday and sunset the following Sunday. Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snap shots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e.,embedding them), but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...d.php?t=194511 (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=194511)
An index to previous weeks can be found here: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...d.php?t=170603 (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=170603)
That's it! Have fun!

Never heard of that. Sounds like fun.
Your stairs make me think of the poem "Blue Guitar."
I tried stairs yesterday. Yours turned out much better. :)
Yoby -- Love the interpretation! Who does the art work?
Slapstix -- looking forward to another from you!

Thanks... I was not sure about the reception I was going to get... :D
The cups are done by customers at the local Starbucks... Basically you ask for a empty canvas (a cup) and start doing what ever comes to mind (poems, drawings) and you get a free cup of coffee for the troubles... I don't know if this is only on my local Starbucks or is done in another location...
Regards...

I intend to get something up this week but I just want to say that every time i see "stairs on a train" I think of "snakes on a plane". I just wanted everyone to know this.

Welcome to WWPW yoby.. We love interpertations on a theme. Makes us all work harder to come up with something different. I will need to bring up this concept at my local Starbucks... oh, wait, they closed :(
Ed, love the blue stairs!
Adam, snakes on a plane? Now that is way off of the interpertion! :)

Thanks... Am glad to be here...
Yep due to the restructuring of Starbucks a lot of local ones closed because they didn't meet "the Sales quota". I believe each manager can bring something to the table via that Starbucks Idea thing, on this location they have Games, so you can enjoy a game a something warm / cold. I mostly go for our Local GO CLUB.

What a wonderful stage she has!
I just keep looking at it and seeing new things.
The wind-up key is a great touch.
And her expression is just right: so serious.
Looks like a kazoo in her mouth.
Nice find!
I'm heading out today and will keep my eyes open for the ever elusive trains & stairs.

Some ideas for next week:
1. necessities
2. stacks
3. points
4. something to overcome
And I had a seasonal idea.
What do you think of this:
Between sunrise Mon. (Dec. 8th) and sunrise New Year's Day (Jan. 1), we shoot & post (as often as we like) the theme "holiday decorations"?
This would be in addition to our regular weekly themes, a sort of ongoing theme.
Let's hear you thoughts.

I think that is a great idea Barbara! Will we set up a separate Thread for the WWPW Holiday Theme?
Thanks about the puppeteer .. Yes that is a kazoo. She never spoke, just used the kazoo for sound effects. She also has a lever to make the crowd stand up and cheer for the tine elephant who can jump through the hoop. Brilliant actually!
Oh, I vote "points" or "stacks" ...

Oh man how lucky. I had not seen this thread before just now and today I was out with 2 friends to photograph on and around the danish metro stations.
Here is a shot of some stairs.

We finally got some decent weather.
Well, that might be a stretch.
Let's put it this way: The weather was finally sunny.
But, gee, was it cold -- 29 degrees F and windy.
I parked the car as close to this train as possible.
I jogged the rest of the way, trying to stay warm, took some shots, and then jogged back to the car.
Here's what I found.

Wow Barbara.. exercise and both trains and stairs! Great job!
...and to think I am cold with the weather in the mid 40's at night. I am embarrassed to say that we are in the 70's during the day. :)

Well, it wasn't much exercise. I parked really close and jogged slowly for fear of slipping.
I envy those temperatures for the winter.
