It's been raining non-step the last few weeks in Melbourne, which has given me a bit of time to not only scout locations, but read up a little more on lighting. I got to apply all that research though the last few days, with gorgeous semi-overcast weather. Here are some photos I took the last few days.
Oh, I also found a way into an old trainyard in the city, so look forward to some vandalized train pics in the next few weeks! :)
CC always welcome

"Corner conversation" really caught my attention. Nice job! It leaves its self open enough so you can just guess what is being "conversed" about. Who knows what the one center shadow is holding(?)..........Love it!
And would you mind posting the exif data for the last shot?

thanks steelcityslicker. I could tell you what was going on in the photo, and what that person was holding, but alas, would that ruin the mystique of the image? :P i can tell you though that they weren't exactly friendly :) and nah, i don't mind posting the exif data. I've grown accustomed to using the save for web function in photoshop which unfortunately, i think strips that information.
focal length = 40mm
shutter speed = 1/125
aperture = 6.3
iso = 1600
i could have cranked that iso down i think, but ah. the shot is there at least. i hope that helps.

cheers tee why. I'm very big on mood, and i think that is what makes a photo. I'm glad it's coming through.

Thanks heap Jryan. the first one is one of my favs to date. the ferris wheel at the back is melbourne's version of the London eye that's currently under construction. it's such a small but i think crucial element for the image. it wouldn't be the same without it.
Thanks too for everybody else who've taken the time to comment :)

All are excellent. #2 and #4 are killer in my mind. I'm a sucker for powerful shadows.

thank you Tom. This is quite flattering coming from yourself. Having a thorough peruse through your gallery, you are definitely accomplished at the type of photography you do. I am a big fan of shadows too, and have only recently thought a great deal of incorporating backlighting, and using shadows compositionally.

Excellent Work.
thank you both. I actually like this photo least, due to how simple it is - but i guess this may work in its favour :) i'm also still not sure about whether i like the shadow having being cut out of the frame :/
stuning series

gack. I didn't expect these photos to be so well received. I'm still not all that confident in my work, so it's very flattering. Thank you guys, and much appreciated.
