Got home ready to take some shots of the moon, venus and jupiter conjunction only to find it was cloudy. However, there was a gap so I got ready for a few frames. Here is my attempt. Hope you like it.

I managed a similar shot this evening, although my effort is not as good as yours. I apologise for being an ignoramus, but could you tell me which one is Jupiter, please?

Venus is the one nearest the moon.

I'm so irritated...fate was definitely against me today. Got home to lovely clear skies, got the camera and checked my framing. Where was Venus? Behind the moon...I didn't realist it was going to be an occultation. Then the camera battery ran out. Couldn't get a view from home to shoot on the mains, so charged the battery. Went for a walk and saw Venus pop out from behind the moon, then clouds rolled in and haven't seen any of it again. :( :( :(

That's a great shot though Ju. :)

Thanks for the info. I am glad I asked, as I had assumed Jupiter was the bigger one. I told you I was an ignoramus :)

What a bummer for you when the weather turned. I didn`t know about the positioning of the planets beforehand, but was lucky enough to have it pointed out to me just before the clouds rolled in, so my shot was very rushed - no tripod, TCs, mirror lock-up etc - just point-and-shoot with the 300mm. By the time I found a wall high enough to rest my arms on, it was too late. How long will the conjunction last, do you know, and will it be worth watching out for it tomorrow?

Well, if we're being accurate, Jupiter *is* the bigger one...it's just a lot further away so Venus is brighter.

I saw Venus appear beside the moon at 5:15pm, and by 6:30pm it was a good moon's-width away. By tomorrow the moon will be well away from Jupiter and Venus unfortunately. Will still make a nice photo, just a bit wider.

As for the moon occulting Venus, no idea when the next occultation will happen. :(

This is great - Did you use a scope? or just your DSLR?

Well after solid cloud for the last few days I was amazed to get a good view on the all-important night. I rushed home early, just in time to grab a quick shot of Venus disappearing behind the moon (before the sun had even set).

Here's another with the very last speck of Venus just peeking out (if you can see it).

Then about an hour and a half later, out she popped again.

Now with both Venus and Jupiter visible, a wider shot.

And finally, a longer exposure which shows the 'dark side' of the moon (illuminated by light reflected off the Earth). If you look close you can also see a couple of extra stars and even some of Jupiter's moons (either side of the planet furthest from the Moon).

All taken with my new 100-400L and 1.4x Extender on the 40D.

Very, very cloudy here, and I didn't think I was going to get anything at all. This was all I could manage. Pales to insignificance against everyone else's efforts, but it's a nice momento for me to capture Venus as it popped out from behind the moon.

Yes they are. Europa and Ganymede close together on the left (can be seen separately on the original) and Callisto on the right.

I guess I had brain freeze and could not make the exposure corrections before the moon had moved away.
