I wanted to test the new lens, but we haven't gone anywhere to really show the majestic landscapes I envision it to capture. Oh well, we did take a ride on my son's boat to the St Petersburg Pier. The building is a crazy design with radical angles, and there is no way to take the shot I took with a "normal" lens. Moving back just puts large trees between the camera and building, or puts one deep into the water. So, this is how it looks at 16mm (equivalent). No editing other than re-sizing. The second is the same image cropped to eliminate extraneous stuff, such as my own shadow. (One problem with this lens is the risk of including too much.)

Looks great, have you tried it at 10mm and do you get any barrel distortion?

That was at 10mm, just 16mm equivalent because of the 1.6 sensor. I'm not good at recognizing small amounts of distortion, but I've only noticed it when small objects are near the edge. so far, it is not a concern for me. I expect to use if primarily for landscapes, where I don't think distortion will be evident.

Nice shot. I sort of miss having extreme wide angles for landscapes, I really like the effects, but alas, all the film stuff is long gone.

I have been waiting for you to show your shots . . . and I just found this. Very nice Stan. I am watching you to see if it will fit me, I worry of the distortion I have seen when used 'differently' lets say.
This looks good . . . I could use some of that blue sky.
