Just for once it didn't rain... so here are some dry-ish captures from this afternoon's England Hockey League Premier One encounter between Old Loughtonians and Firebrands...

Very nice.

Intersting thing about #1.....

If you didn't know what the sport was, you'd be hard-pressed to identify it from that angle. There really isn't a stick to be seen (that you can identify as such).

Interesting. I did not know Men played field hockey. In the US, as far as I know, it is a sport played by Women. Seems that the goal keeper should have a bigger stick. He looks like he has a tough job. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for educating through the pictures.
Cheers,
Rob

like the shots that show the water drops flying from the shoes...really shows the action for me ; )

Excellent work.

Like Rob, I didn't realize field hockey was also a men's sport. I'd say the action and intensity look about equal comparing men and women.

General question: - how to you capture goal shots (any sport) like you #5?

Thanks very much Maderito.

Capturing goals can be a tough one. For me it's a case of reading the game as best I can... and then making a decision to concentrate on the goalkeeper or the potential goalscorer. This is often a split-second choice - sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn't!

I have to agree that the poor goalie seems to be at a serious disadvantage!
