First time with the 40D so I tried out 3200 ISO on half the game.
It's a lot noisier than I would like, but blur is worse I suppose.
I was a little rusty, but I got a few good ones.

great action capture, a litle soft and very noisie... try running it through a noise reducer and see how it looks, wont fix the blurry though...lol I feel your pain as I shoot a ton of BB too.

I did. But it was Photoshop's, which isn't the greatest.

looks a little underexposed to me.. I can't view exif from my current comp, so I'm not sure what your aperture/ss were, but I'd bump it up a little if possible next time. It'll help with the noise too.

f/2.8 1/500 ISO 3200 and -1/3 EC.
I did the EC to get the faster shutter speed. Probably not a good idea.

If you shot in RAW, try the DPP noise reducer. I think it works almost as good as Noise Ninja. (The RAW noise reducer is much better than the JPEG noise reducer in DPP)
Since you're maxed out and having to resort to -EC, flash is the answer. Hopefully it's allowed for you.

You probably could've gotten by with a 1/400s shutter speed, but I'd never go slower than that..

Agree. I try to shoot +1/3 on my exposure when at high ISO and it helps a bunch with the noise.
Another option to consider would be to pick up either an 85 f/1.8 or 135 f/2.0 lens so you can gain shutter speed via wider apertures. The 85 is a steal in my opinion for the quality of the results it delivers for the cost. The 135 is reasonable in my book for an L lens but is still almost $1k.

Great job considering... I can't imagine how you guys manage without using flash (either on camera or strobes). I always use on camera flash at all high school venues.

I second the 85 f/1.8 suggestion. That lens was my bread and butter last basketball season. Great value for money.
