Today my mate took his new 19 metre kite out for a fly. Boy does this thing lift you!

During WW1 they used large box kites to suspend observers above the front lines to act as observation points.

A reply from a friend that flies Paramotors----

Kites are funny Miles, I had a 2meter kite haul me across the ice (on skiis) at 40mph (in some good wind mind you) and my paramotor instructor just flew a 14 meter kite. Last month (no maybe it was in January) I held onto the bar when a gust took my 5.5 meter kite away from me in a hurry - I nearly pulled the arm out of my socket and still cannot raise the arm above my head where it usually rests during the night. This kite is a 19meter and if a person gets airborne by mistake he's gonna get hurt real bad - we're mixing the sports here, I sure hope the vendors tell that to the purchasers.

Man that looks scary. We have lots of wind in south texas....I'll be on the lookout for some of this on the coast.

Great shots!!
Are they taken in Notts, if so, where and what days are best to go?

Yes, they are taken at Rushcliffe country park at ruddington. You will find fliers there any weekend when there is wind above 5mph. With the light evenings coming soon, they will be out then too!

No. It is only a small park.

To get the paragliders you will need to go into Derbyshire or you could go to Langar airfield to snap some skydivers:
