View Full Version : Computer for HD video

Well im currently using.
Core2duo 2.4 ghz
3 gig 667 ram
I'm recording HD video from my 5d Mark II on a 16 gig extreme III (30mb/s) card.
However the problem i'm having is that HD playback on my computer is extremely choppy, using vlc sometimes it plays sorta smooth... others it just ocmpletelly hangs and stutters.
What would be causing the issue? How can i solve it?

Get a quad-core CPU and more RAM.
What program are you using for editing? An editing program shouldn't have any problem. WMP is kind of a bear playing HD content. Quicktime seems to handle it better.
I prefer Windows Media Player Classic with QuickTime Alternative.
Also what other processes are running? Something else is chewing up CPU time. What OS?

Using Adobe premier elements, vista 32bit
Not using anything else in the meantime.
Its weird though, i have other 1080p stuff i downloaded on the net and it plays smooth, only the Canon stuff doesn't play well.

Yeah but the Canon is probably a more RAW format of video than the optimized stuff you'll find on the web.
3GB with Vista doing video editing I would say is not enough. 2GB is just barely enough for Vista itself.
