A gentleman over in the next valley has tried to restore and save this old covered wagon. It is not a 1850's one however, it was most likely made around 1905 or so by my guess. But it looks the same and conveys the idea of the pioneers. Very few of the original pioneer wagons are left . . . they all got destroyed in the big cleanups of the mid 1950's to late 60's. Then we decided they had value. LOL, but not until most were gone. Same thing happened to the log cabins as well.
The reason for this shot is to show the power of the light during that 'golden hour.' If you have not shot during this short time in the late afternoon or early morning . . . you are missing the best light of the day. You don't need to boost the colors or such . . . nature does it for you. Rich and deep the low sun is a photographers best friend. I need to shoot more in the evenings . . . and seeing this photograph from yesterday, I think will help me to get out as well.
