View Full Version : Young Bald Eagle in Flight . . .

The winds of fate blessed me once again this Friday past with this different shot and view of a juvenile Bald Eagle, wings tipped into the warm morning sun. I happened to be a little above him as he jumped from his tree branch with an adult Bald Eagle, spotting me, he swung out over the morning blue sky and showed me all six feet of his top feathers. Letting me know I was on his 'turf' he put out a screech and off he went to look for breakfast . . .
This is one of my new 'High Speed' shots . . . taken at 400mm and 1/1000 of a second, the fastest I have ever shot, f/8, ISO set at 200. I think the help I got here to speed up my shooting is going to help me. More keepers and this one is completely due to a thread on shutter speed I read here a week or so ago. My kind thanks to the many members and threads I read that help me in the real world to become better. This is hand held.

Great shot! Can I ask what setting(s) you used? Most of my shots when the birds take off are blurred when I try to take them in raw or other than the action mode. Thanks.

I did an edit to the original post to include the requested information. This is the thread and the links out from it, that have 'changed' my way of shooting. They may be of help to you and or others as well, if you look at them in 'New' light as did I.

Way nice RJ. This is a great place to learn. I've gotten more from this forum than any other one that I frequent.

My kind thanks to all . . . except eastcoast909 whom forced ME to the dictionary for a translation of the enclosed verbiage. I was not sure of the articulation of the word "Genuflect" in my general direction.
I use a loosely versed term that I "Bow in your general direction." This however honestly showing my servitude to a 'higher one' comes from a line in Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail. A line the French toss from the castle wall.
So for tickling my funny bone a big thank you. I from time to time enjoy the sound of words like the gentle patter of rain on a old tin shed. Thanks!
