I am currently trying to decide between the Canon SD750 and SD1100 IS. The image quality is as close to equal as two cameras can be I believe. Here is the dilemma: the 750 is made in Japan and the 1100 is made in China. The prices are very close so either would be acceptable. Does the fact that the 750 made in Japan outweigh the newer features of the Chinese 1100? If anyone has any experience with any difference in quality of country origins I would appreciate your input. I do not think I am being obsessive, just do not want to throw money away on lesser quality. Thanks in advance for any responses.

It doesn't matter where the camera is made. Believe me, Chinese factories can produce very good products. What matters is the quality control enforced by the company that is commissioning the manufacturing.

Your guarantee is the Canon brand. That's why brands exist.

Having been to China a couple of times, and worked with Chinese manufacturing engineers, the fact that a product was made in China would not put me off.
