Well, one of my teachers at my High School likes my work, and she wants me to take pictures of her daughter for Christmas cards. I've never really worked with kids, and I was looking for any tips or tricks possible.
Thanks.

Keep her relaxed and don't have sit anywhere too long. Candid portraits with children always make the best photos. Besides have you ever seen a kid sit still long a posed shot just looks unnatural.

How old is her daughter?
I shoot a LOT of kids, and have LOTs of tricks! :)
1.Wear silly eyeglasses.. (I pasted some eyes that I'd enlarged in PS to my glasses)
2. Puppets work great.. I have Kermie, and little cheerleader that are nice.
3. Silly words.. say something goofy like "Crusty Sneezeburgers"
4. Play peek-a boo behind the camera.
5. Find out what her favorite song/tv show is and if you know anything about it you can impersonate.
6. Do "airplanes" with her.. "Zoom" her around and plop her in place.. ok, this really only works well if you have a remote shutter release.
7. Just be easy going and relaxed.. have fun!
