This is my 2nd attempt at taking nudes but this time I added a 2nd slave strobe with a snoot about 10 feet above the model. The lighting is the same for all the shots. There was a large strobe with diffuser to my right at about 45 degrees to the model and above the model from behind; slightly to my left was the slave strobe.

The theme of the gallery is 'Human Form'. The lighting setup was designed to highlight the body to reveal the texture of the form and although possibly sometimes hard, I think makes for a good effect.

The photos were taken with a Canon 20D and an EF 24-70mm L USM f2.8 lens.

Your feedback is appreciated but before you look at the gallery take note that these are artistic nudes.

I'd value your opinions as to which one you'd choose to enter into a competition called 'Human Form' or just your feedback on any of the photos.

Very nicely done. I like these very much. The model is also lovely and should be congratulated on fine work.

These are really excellent... and as Charles notes, the model has done a lovely job. I suppose for "The Human Form", I would choose 216, because it is pure form (no props) and shows as much of the body as possible... besides beings generally lovely.

Congratulations on all of them and good luck with choosing and exhibiting.

These are top notch and pretty original - and as the other responders say the model has done a great job too let's not forget that. I think the "cheesecake mongers" around here could learn from these photos! :-)

The "look ma no head" shot is pretty mad, and her arms look strange in this shot too. Not sure if it would be my competition entry, but it certainly is very interesting - and they're all beautifully done.

Thanks for the great feedback. Here's a bit more background. Before the shoot I created a couple of contact sheets of photos with various poses that we used for inspiration. The shoot was tethered and the 20D was connected via a USB cable to my laptop. Incidentally I went through 2 fully charged batteries in 2 hours in tethered mode and was on my third when we called it a day. A tethered shoots uses lots of juice.

Alison (the model) deserves a lot of praise and I'm impressed that this has been mentioned several times. During the shoot we paused on occasion to view the pictures on the laptop and recomposed a few shots. I have to say the instant feedback is a real bonus. Alison is a pleasure to work with and had a lot of influence of the outcome of the shoot and was very keen to create great photos.

We took about 15 shots of the pose in img_320 to get it right so the shawl would hang elegantly complimenting the pose whilst img_295 which I really like was a one off pose.

We spent ages on the "look ma no head" (img_186) pose and I’d like to do it again to reposition the hands and I think Alison looks really beautiful in the img_216 shot as well as img_189.

Well done you on taking really well lit shots that don't show a silly pouting female trying to look sexy. I don't normally like female nudes, being one myself (female that is not nude) but these are all superb.

I have to echo all of the above. These are very fine captures. An elegant model and great lighting.

My preferences are 216 and 295. 216 seems to be the more traditional and 295 less so but still shows most if not all of the "complete" human form.

Once again, Bravo!

Nice work in the gallery! I'm leaning toward Image_0216.jpg. for the competition.
(How long did she hold that pose in Image_0214.jpg? Geeez!) ;-)
