I took this picture of a Archaeopteryx mount, (Little Bird w/teeth) though long gone, this week past. I could not decide between the Nature part of this forum and or the 'Other' forum section. Please move this if it needs be.

I am going on a 'Rock Art' hunt in the spring and summer, I hope. I like rocks, rock art and things carved or chiseled into them. I think these are just plain cool. However strokes for folks . . . I hope this finds a welcome home here. I hunt fossils from time to time. This one is from Germany, I think but was cleaned and mounted near here.

Nice golden light. Is that just straight on flash?

There is a 25 watt bulb overhead in the display mount. That is the only light I used, no flash, the bounce back was very bad plus washed out the lovely color. You got to love a fast lens.

I think even as a compressed .jpg one can see the feather detail of the wings and tail section. I use this shot to 'display' the power of fixed focal length lens. I was raised on fixed length and most likely will go back to them for some needs and uses.
