Has anyone actually purchased one of these? If so, I would love to hear your opinions. I have searched, and have only been able to find some threads where there seemed to be some early shipping problems, but no testimonials from working photographers as to its everyday use, other than the early reviews I have read.
Not being much of a computer wizard, I really like the idea of a machine built with photography in mind, and cringe at the thought of trying to build my own work station. I probably couldn't afford to max one out with all of the options, but even one with the basics should blow away my existing desktop and old monitor.
I know it is pricey, and very big for a laptop, but I am in dire need of a setup with more power and a decent monitor that can stay calibrated.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Hmmmm. Maybe I'm the only one interested.
This could be bad. ;)

Yeah, it doesn't seem like much people are interested in this.. I've created a thread about this awhile back and didn't get much feedback..

I have been looking at them recently. Looks like a nice laptop. Not exactly portable @ 10 lbs and not exactly low priced.
I'm also looking at:
1. Macbook Pro
2. Dell Precision M6400 (these are sweet as well)

Look into the Sony VIAO FW series, I just got one, and the screen is awesome with the HD and 512mb ATI card.
Great for photography...

According to Consumer Reports the top three 17" laptops are...
1. Apple MacBook Pro 17-inch - Score:82
2. HP Pavillion dv7t - Score:72
3. Dell Studio 17 - Score:70
As far as customer satisfaction and customer support, all PC companies numbers are pretty dismal except Apple's which are very high on both.

I have a studio 17" and it is a nice laptop but it really has some bugs I cant stand. The main bug is the dell support!
"Wow my whole laptop just self destructed!" that's me. Dell studio, 17"

Yea, you probably got a lemon :( I currently support about 60 or so Dell laptops and I cannot say any have really failed but some models have really been a pain. There was one model's lithium batteries failed completely after only 9 months and were not covered, another model that all the batteries had to be sent back due to a danger of explosion and yet another series that all came with a corrupt OS install. Oh, I have stories about Dell, HP and Gateway - hundreds of them in fact, but people start saying I'm bashing PCs because I turned to Mac. Oh well, si la vie - so I recommend the OP go to Mac hehe. :)
